The Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB) is a Portuguese Higher Education Public Institution with 7000 undergraduate and master students, embracing a wide area of knowledge and technology, including agriculture sciences, arts and sports, education and teachers’ training, informatics and engineering, administration and management, health, communication and tourism.

Student services

Students coming to Bragança should inform International Relations Office before their arrival. IPB does not have the possibility to assure accommodation for international students, but will provide all the necessary help to find a suitable place.

IPB has an internationalization programme with recognized success, including the annual mobility of more than 900 incoming and outgoing students and 200 teaching staff members, as the result of the collaboration with several higher education institutions from all over the World. Studying at IPB represents a unique opportunity of international mobility, and an asset for the training and employability of our students and alumni.

Housing services

The cost of life in Bragança is below the average in Portugal. The average monthly living expenses of a student amount to 300€, of which about half is due to accommodation (plus water, electricity and gas). Most houses have no central heating so you will probably have to buy an electric radiator. Some apartments have central gas heating which is quite expensive in use, so you should better be careful if you do not want to find yourself unpleasantly surprised by a high bill at the end of the month!

Library services

The IPB has modern and well-equipped facilities, namely laboratories, ateliers, centre of resources and libraries, which constitute an invaluable support for the teaching quality and its practical and experimental characteristics.

ICT services

The IPB offers wireless access in all its buildings. Students can also access to online resources, such as scientific and documental information, and to a modern e-learning platform.

Medical services

The IPB has its own Health Office, which was created as a result of a protocol with Regional Health Administration and also with cooperation of IPB’s teaching staff. The Health Office offers nursery, dietetics, psychology, social and prevention of dependency services.

Sports facilities

The IPB has also a modern sports complex which includes several game courts, a turf court, and an Olympic athletics track. Also, it is the only campus in the country surrounded by a pedestrian and bicycle track.
